On the occasion of its 75th anniversary the allotment garden association of Sint-Amandsberg (Gent) has taken the initiative to co-finance the establishment of an allotment garden in Cagayan de Oro (Mindanao-Philipines) for 10 poor urban families. So, the impetus given by the International Office to think locally and act globally is fully taken at heart over there.

The required funds amount to 6770-, Euro and include the land preparation and –irrigation together with tools, tool room, nursery, seeds, agro-chemicals and fertilizers for the first year. The start-up assistance of an agronomist is also included.
Fundraising will be achieved amongst others via the selling of a multi-lingual Liber Amicorum, published by the association on the occasion of the 75th year celebration.

This Liber Amicorum counts almost 270 pages and contains 58 articles of 52 different authors all related to allotment gardening, locally and worldwide. 14 articles are bi-lingual (Flemish to English, German, French, Spanish). There are contributions from the member-gardeners, friends and neighbors, politicians, historians, academics, city- and province council members and many other allotment garden associations as well locally as internationally.

The book is sold for 10 Euro/pc excl. of mailing costs.
