- The federation publishes, every two month, a review called “LE JARDIN FAMILIAL DE FRANCE” edited with more than 18.000 issues. Aim of it is to give information and advices to all gardening lovers.
“The Jardin Familial de France” insists on the good practices concerning the environment protection. It aims at sensitising all gardeners both young and old.
- During the centennial of the French Federation, an book reviewing an century of allotment garden history, that have become over the years the family gardens, has been issued. This book entitled “Cent ans d’histoire des jardins familiaux” written by Béatrice CABEDOCE, historian, can be bought at the domicile of the French federation.
- Publication of the documents of the 34th international allotment garden congress held in Lyon from August 24th till August 27th 2007, during which the delegates have discussed following subjects in three workshops:
- Allotment gardens and citizenship,
- Allotment gardens and urbanism,
- Allotment gardens and biodiversity.
These works emphasized the essential role the allotment gardens can play in the urban planning in his beginning of the 21st century. The function of the allotment gardens and their lay-out have undergone a considerable pollution since their creation at the end of the 19th century. But they are still today as important as they were at the beginning for the quality of life for a great number of citizens living in urban areas. Additionally the alimentary and social functions, which they had since the beginning they have today a democratic, a sanitary and a environmental function as they contribute to a sustainable development of our cities.
